gertrude in hoxa

I must admit I don't get why we've suddenly started naming strong winds in the UK. It all seems a bit daft and sensationalised. Orkney has bouts of storm force winds every winter, as does much of Scotland. Residents expect strong winds here, it's nothing new, so why suddenly start getting overly excited about every gust of wind over 60mph? I suspect there is an educated point I'm completely missing, but that's my rant for today.

Anyway, I ventured down to the beach during storm Gertrude's visit last Friday. The car came in handy as a tripod.
